The scholarship is awarded to the student athlete that has demonstrated commitment, courage, and charisma in both their academic and athletic career.
Commitment is demonstrating dedication, a strong work ethic, and perseverance in the pursuit of personal goals. A committed person displays a high level of determination and stays focused on their objectives, often going above and beyond to achieve success. They are deeply devoted to their values, principles, relationships, and personal growth, and their commitment often serves as a source of inspiration and motivation to others.
Courage is demonstrating bravery, resilience, and the willingness to face and overcome challenges, adversity, or fear. Courageous individuals possess a willingness to step outside of their comfort zones and embrace discomfort for the sake of personal growth or the betterment of their team. Courageous leaders inspire and motivate others through their bravery, and their actions can have a positive impact on themselves, teammates, and their community.
Charisma is demonstrated through strong leadership skills and connections with others. Charismatic leaders bring a team together by making their teammates feel comfortable and valued. These leaders adopt a selfless mindset meeting the needs of others before their own. They also have an ability to inspire and motivate others. Their positive influence pushes those around them to get stronger and achieve their personal goals. The entire team benefits from a charismatic leader.

Recipients of the Run Strong Scholarship
Chloe's running career flourished in tandem with the club's growth, making her a trailblazer for what it has become today. Her commitment, courage and charisma have inspired countless athletes who have followed in her footsteps. Chloe's times still rank among the top ten for both the Chico Striders and PV. She is currently studying Animal Sciences at Cal Poly Pomona.
Austin exemplifies the qualities of a servant leader. During his high school years, he consistently volunteered as a mentor, giving back to the Strider program. His dedication to the sport has earned him numerous top-ten finishes, and he is continuing his journey as a student-athlete at Cal State Stanislaus. The Hein family lives by the motto, "Tough Times Don’t Last, Tough People Do." Austin faced the hardest challenge of his youth—the passing of his father—with remarkable courage. His resilience and determination inspire his teammates, coaches, and everyone around him.
